Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions2017-04-27T20:03:05+00:00
How long have you been working in this field?2017-04-27T20:16:59+00:00

EMB was established in 1996. The owners have over 50 years of combined management experience and are supported by a superior staff of veteran billers and certified coders. In that time we’ve artfully managed numerous wide-sweeping industry changes and have developed liaisons with many carriers, consultants, and professional organizations. We support billing for a wide variety of specialties including physician, laboratory, facility, and durable medical equipment providers and we add new specialties every year.

What are the advantages of outsourcing my billing?2017-04-27T20:24:40+00:00

As the need for high-quality patient care increases, medical professionals across all specialties cannot afford to manage in-house billing for their practices.
When a client outsources, many of the associated costs become the responsibility of the billing service. The client usually sees a reduction in employee related expenses: payroll and associated payroll taxes, administrative costs, benefits, postage and documentation, supplies, software upgrades and fees, training and re-training.
EMB has resources and tools that are often not known or utilized by in-house billers. Billing specialists have processes in place to ensure that every encounter scheduled or laboratory test reported is billed and that all claims are scrubbed for omissions and accuracy before they are submitted.
We will keep you abreast of industry changes to ensure you understand them and are prepared to tackle the next big hurdle.

I’ve always managed my billing in-house and outsourcing makes me a little uncomfortable. Will the transition be easy?2017-04-27T20:24:46+00:00

Any new change in how you manage your financials will make anyone feel uneasy at first, but there are real-dollar benefits of hiring an outside professional to take over your billing.

Many times, clients hire employees with little or no experience in the billing field, resulting in lost revenue due to inexperience, inefficiency, extra training or turnover with those employees.

Overall, switching to EMB is a very effortless process, and our clients are typically set up and billing through us within a week. And, because they always have direct access to a live billing specialist, as well as our directors and owners, our clients can experience peace of mind.

What do I do with my existing billing arrangement when I switch to EMB?2017-04-27T20:24:53+00:00

Do I get payments directly, or do they go to EMB first?2017-04-27T20:25:03+00:00

While we oversee the entire medical billing process, no actual money is handled at EMB. All of our clients are in control of their finances and receive income directly, whether from insurance checks or patient checks. We make sure to record patient payments that were received by our clients on the date of service. Most of the payments received by our clients from insurance carriers are received in an electronic funds transfer (EFT) format directly to their bank, while a detailed explanation of benefits (EOB) from the carrier is loaded in an ERA format to our clearinghouse.

Are medical billing errors common?2017-04-27T20:25:09+00:00
